Fun weekend

I don't have a picture but Heather and I went on an overnight trip to Asheville Friday. It was so much fun, such a great break from kids and my quickly approaching charity yard sale (eeek)! We were unable to find the church where we were going to attend a Women's conference but still had such a great time!

Friday morning Hannah was able to meet her preschool teachers and see her class room. They gave her the school bag she needs and her name badge (for the first week so other teachers know what class room she belongs to in case she forgets). I am so excited for her! And for myself!!! She starts Tuesday.

Jacob had a late nap and so I knew bed time was going to be difficult with Hannah tired and Jacob not so much. (Hannah insists that she "never gets any sleep, not ever"). While I was working on the joyful duty blog I could hear their little conversations. Hannah was telling Jacob how to turn pages by carefully lifting the corner of the page. After some time she finally said:

"I need a rest, Jacob. You wore me out today." Hmm. Wonder where she has heard that one.

My super duper new blog

I typed in "really cool picture" in google so that I could catch everyone's attention and this is what popped up right at the top. Not very cool in my book but definitely a little intriguing so I am just going with it. I want everyone to know about a new blog I have started called the Joyful Duty and here is the address: http://thejoyfulduty.blogspot.com/ It is all about serving and helping others and there is a post about a yard sale I want to do and I am going to need a lot of help and so check it out!

Jeff's cool tool

For all you none woodworking people out there, this is a lathe. It is a tool that spins wood really fast so that you can carve it. Jeff has talked about getting one for a long time now and last month he finally did it. Jeff is not the type of person who buys things for himself very often (woodworking stuff being the only exception) and so it always makes me happy when he gets something he is excited about.
Ta-dah!

I think this is soo cool. I don't like pepper on my food but tonight I couldn't resist.

My exciting health update

I am sure that just the title of this blog has you all on the edge of your seats so here goes. Well first of all let me state that the news isn't exciting at all, that was just to lure you in. So let me begin with a certain side effect of crestor. It makes me feel like a dead sloth that was really tired. Seriously. I thought it was my iron but my fatigue kept getting worse. and worse. and worser. : ) (I know that was horrible english but it goes well with how I was feeling). I would get a full night's sleep, jog/walk 2 miles, shower, and then if I lied back down I would fall asleep. Then I would take 3 naps during the day. Oh, and when I wasn't napping I would just lie on the sofa. Cardiologist said that it could be the Crestor and a few days after I quit taking it I began to feel much better. Now I am on the lowest dose of Lipitor and I still take one nap during the day. I am not sure whether that is still from the crestor or if the lipitor is doing it to me also. It looks like it might be trial and error for the first little bit.

Next up: my legs. As mentioned above, I had started back to jogging and walking. I was taking it very easy since my six month break of waiting for the stress fractures to heal. The pain came back. I saw the orthopaedist and he said my body just can't handle the impact. So running is out unless I want to get rods in my legs. (Jeff has those in his legs and I think that having more than one set in a household is just freaky). I cried. I really love to run and my parents have decided to do the Myrtle Beach half marathon every year and I would really have loved to do it with them. Well, I am going to join the gym by our house so that the kids can play while I exercise and I am trying to be positive about it.

Jacob's buddy

This is Michael
and here is Jacob in nursery at church. I was able to get these pictures because I was called to work in the nursery. It is a funny calling because people are so cautious when asking how it is going or worried since I am at home with my kids all week that I might be unhappy with being in there. But I LOVE it!!! I think it is fun in part because I get to see Jacob without Hannah. I also get to see his budding friendship with Michael as they are now getting old enough to interact more. Each week we take the kids out for a walk in the halls of the church to let them have a change of scenery and Jacob and Michael will hold hands and walk nicely while having the silliest conversations.

The little critter house

First off, doesn't Hannah look like 6 years old here!?! So we sold some of the kid's old toys (bless you Jessica for helping wrestle toys into the store, and sharing your bigger car, and listening to my kids whine). Hannah bought some clothes (which was weird given that there were a bunch of toys to pick from) and little kid makeup. Bad idea. She has very sensitive skin. The next morning she woke up and it was AWFUL. I should have seen it coming as she has had impetigo around her mouth like twice in two months. I threw it away and told her we would get something else. She picked out these little bears and rabbits which I remember having when I was little. I decided to help her build a little house for them (which is another thing I loved to do when I was little. Tauni, you are the best big sister ever)!

Jacob was totally on board too and I really had to remind myself that I was doing this with, and for THEM, not myself. I didn't quite get the "twizzler" that Hannah placed in the bedrooms ( a little crumpled up piece of paper that she said was to warm up their feet in the mornings) or the big red strip of paper that she glued to the edge of the box to make room for their pool and yard. I really wanted the rugs to be nice little circles but that was not happening either. Being a mom is rather therapeutic for those with OCD/perfectionistic tendencies. (I admit that I didn't let Jacob draw on the carpet or wallpaper though. Only posters allowed in this house buster).

I was rather impressed with the doors she made. I was wallpapering the living room and suddenly she put these little doors up so that the creatures could "get out of their rooms." Would you check out the 3D doorknobs!

More of Jacob

My silly boy
I love this picture because Henry is smiling at Jacob and if I could read his sweet little mind I am sure he would be thinking:

Man, that boy sure has some mad skills!

Just wait Henry, one day you will be able to play with big kid toys too. Oh, and all the toys in front of Henry is the work of Hannah's big heart. He will never be lacking in entertainment on her shift. No siree.

Playing in overalls

Jeff, swinging Jacob around by his overalls. The boy loves it.

Buzzed

This week Hannah and I got our hair trimmed up and then Jeff came home that same day with his hair cut so I decided it was time to do something with Jacob. I really loved having a little length to his hair on top but he is such a beast when you try to do anything with him lately that I knew I would have to go all one length and short. Seriously, I had gone into his room a couple days prior while he was sleeping to trim the hair above his left ear and the part of his neck I could reach. I went in the night after that to do the other side. ( I didn't want to risk waking him by flipping him myself. Even if you are just a toddler, it would still be creepy to wake up and find your mom standing over you with a pair of scissors). So here is his new 'do.
The first picture, which I meant to have come next, is Aubrey's (our hair stylist) daughter Morgan. We brought her with us to Burger King after getting our trims. Morgan is 9 and has a special love for babies and little kids. I think that Hannah has some of that in her too. So when Hannah and Jacob get to see her I know that they can tell she genuinely loves to play with them, talk with them and share with them. I know it makes Hannah feel so special because there is a gap between her peers and then adults of when kids are not so interested in other kids littler than them. So sweet.
