Crazy

Yesterday after dropping off Hannah, Jacob and I were driving home and he wanted to listen to my mp3 player with earphones instead of through the tape deck which we were doing. He was very unhappy but I really just wanted to listen to some Yo-Yo Ma playing Bach (DIVINE!!!) After realizing that he wasn't going to get his way he exclaimed : you driving me CRAZY!

After picking up Hannah from preschool, I put a movie on for the kids, left them sitting on the sofa tranquilly and went to lie down (still recoup'ing from a stomach bug). Hannah comes up later to inform me that Jacob has poured lots of syrup on the carpet and is driving his trains through it. It was bad. Very very bad. I can still smell the maple up the stairs. Crazy? You haven't seen crazy yet buster.

Finding Mr Right

I was reading Sleeping Beauty to Hannah before bed and she asked what betrothed meant. I explained that some people pick who their kids will marry but that we didn't do that. It led to a very unexpected conversation:

Hannah: I have been looking all over preschool for the perfect one and I think I found one.

Me: One? you mean some one to marry?

Hannah: Yeah.

Me: oh. What's his name?

Hannah: Jack. But I still have a long time so I might change my mind. Like when I am five I might change my mind.

More about the football game

How to keep a 2 year old busy for an entire football game? Food, food and more food,

followed by some trains,

then some fair gazing. (I really need to get me and the kids our flu shots so we can go to the fair) Oh, and a little more food.

The football game

Jeff, Jason, Jacob, and Baba went to the Gamecocks vs. Wildcats football game this weekend (Brave brave souls). Helen, Nana, Hannah, and I were going to do a little mall shopping that Saturday and we hadn't quite decided which group Jacob was going to go with. The Friday evening before the get-together Jeff asked Jacob what he wanted to do.
Jeff: Hey Jacob do you want to go to a football game with the boys?
Jacob: Yeah!
Jeff: Or do you want to go shoe shopping?
Jacob: SHOE SHOPPING!!
The sound of Jeff's soul dying a little.
Jeff: You are going to the game. I am going to buy you a hot dog and a foam finger and you are going to love it.

Jacob is making the funniest face.

With Mark being a UK grad and Uncle Jason from USC I decided to have all the bases covered. UK t-shirt with a gamecock hat.

Play place photos

Hannah with Baba

Jacob's confused face

This photo is a little hard to make out but it is super sweet. The play place at McDonald's has a spot that Jacob is too short to climb. I helped him twice, trying to figure out how he could do it on his own. Save for growing 5 inches it was not going to happen. Enter: the big sister. Determined not to spend my time up in the playplace I showed Hannah how to sit down with her knees bent so that Jacob could use them as a little step stool. Perfect! She loved it because she was helping Jacob (and she knew that my mom and I knew she was helping him. She would look over at us every time she did it) and Jacob was thrilled that he could keep going on the slide with Hannah. They would climb up, go down the slide, rush to the too tall spot, Hannah would quickly sit down (and glance my way), Jacob would climb up and Hannah would scramble after him. Over and over and over. I must say Hannah won the sister of the year award because as Jacob got tired he got a little sloppy and he would slide down and step on her abdomen.
