Park pictures

Michael with his mouth full of cheerios
Hannah wanting the camera

Jacob really needs to grow longer legs. Michael and Hannah could out run him which would make him growl, or yell "come on guys, wait up guys," or just stop and cry.

Boys doing boy stuff

The weather was nice this day and so Jacob and Michael and I went in the back yard so they could play with sticks and water. Did I mention that I am loving toddler boys? Especially when I can borrow another one to go with mine. I also love Jacob's shirt. It is hard to see but it says mom. Thank you to the woman in the mall for giving me the gymboree bucks.

Bird watching

We have started throwing birdseed out for the birds because the kids and I really like to watch them. That small red speck is a cardinal. The big yellow wave is a slide (thanks Heather!) and one day it will be a play set.
Me and my boy. I love that boy. Picture courtesy of Hannah. I love that girl.

Happy Birthday Jacob!

Jacob is now three. He is a home body, can't understand why we would ever want to leave the house when it has everything he wants there. Likes to torment his sister at times. Still comes up to me and says "I want to snuggle," or "I want to be cozy." Loves Thomas, loves looking at the birds outside. Likes to eat his waffles frozen, straight from the freezer. Makes stink face A LOT. Destroys books, papers, and stuff he finds in his sister's room. Still leaves the lids off markers. Has finally stopped drawing on walls (I may have just jinxed myself). Still can't reach the pedals on his trike but can "fred flinstone" it like nobody's business. Makes me laugh many times everyday. Says some seriously funny prayers, has a huge smile, likes rock music (more on that later), and as of today, went all day without a diaper on! I love my little man.

Jacob, Jacob, Jacob

Hannah was a flower girl for my brother-in-law's wedding and she wore this beautiful off-white silk dress. We don't really go places where she can wear that again. It did make it to church a couple of months but then became dress-up clothes. Anyway, I won't bore you with more details but two years later (the size ran large so it still pretty much fits) I dyed it pink. Hannah was excited and later that evening she brought it downstairs to me to see if it was dry enough to wear. I said it was and she immediately starts undressing in the middle of the living room. Jeff kind of drops his head to the side and rolls his eyes as if to say: Seriously? Right here? I laugh and say it is a good thing that he has Jacob to even out all the estrogen in the house. Then I glance down at Jacob and realize that he is gently brushing a barbie's hair.

Um. can't think of a title

We have been sick. Well, Jeff is still sick, I am better and almost done with my antibiotic. Jacob is good, he got stuck with two seperate sicknesses but got over them. (Really need to shampoo all of the carpeting in our house). Hannah pretty much escaped unscathed. Where as the rest of us have been sick for weeks, Hannah missed two days of school and then recovered. I truly believe it was her pure love of school and ballet class that enabled her mind to demand that her body heal itself so that she would not have to miss another day. After being quarantined for so long with a two year with a stomach bug I was glad to get out of the house. We went to the zoo on Friday which was a perfect storm: no school, and it was free entry. Crazy busy and we stayed much longer than I had planned. About three hours later we trek back to our car and I can't find my keys because they are sitting inside the locked car by Jacob's seat. Lovely. I called Jeff to come unlock the car and while we are waiting, Hannah wants to talk.

Hannah: So, how did this happen?

Me: Well, when a mom is dealing with two kids sometimes she lays down the keys. Then I locked the doors.

After a pause, Hannah: Let's not do this again.

Feeling more than just a little irritated Me: It's not something I meant to do. It was an accident.

Another pause, Hannah: Well, maybe you could write yourself a note...

Hmmm. That's not really what I am thinking about right now, little girl.

It was okay because we went up this steep little hill to watch the train tracks while we waited for Jeff and I noticed that we awakened some slumbering ants. I told Hannah we had to relocate and she was ready to scoot (she is a little paranoid about ants) but I am getting Jacob off my lap and so she decides to go down the hill by herself. Running. The hill was probably only about 5 feet high but she goes flying down it and crashes right into the grill of the car parked at the bottom. And there was a family getting into the car right next to her. Call me a mean mom but I thought it was great. (She wasn't hurt).

Eavesdropping

I was listening to the kids while I was doing dishes and it was funny. Jacob was playing trains, in a slightly grumpy mood since he hadn't had a nap and really just wanted to be left alone. Hannah kept trying to have a conversation with him and was touching the trains too much and generally irking her brother while not understanding why he wasn't grateful for her attention. Jacob starts mumbling about how I am a gubby and Hannah starts to vehemently deny that I am such a thing. He then switches tactics.

Jacob: mom is a meanie (what did I do? I am just quietly doing dishes)!
Hannah: She is not! Mom is not a meanie!
Jacob: yes her is!

Hannah runs to me (dang, how come I can't be left out of this?)
Hannah: Jacob just said that you are a meanie!
Me: I don't care. I know I'm not.

Hannah goes back to Jacob and tells him: Mom is a gubby but she isn't mean.
Me wondering what a gubby is.
Jacob: Flounder, don't be such a gubby!

Oh! They think I am a guppie.

The feather boa

Hannah got this fabulous light up boa, with matching tiara, AND tutu that plays music. What more could a girl want?
How about a little not sharing with your little brother.
Jacob really wanted to try it on and doesn't it just go so nicely with the tank shirt and stink face!
